Director Julie Vo
 
A long-time MVLA educator and administrator, Julie Vo has been appointed to serve as the District's Director of Adult Education. Her appointment was approved unanimously by MVLA's Board of Trustees.
 
Vo has served as Assistant Director of MVLA Adult School since 2018. She has more than 20 years of experience in the field of education, with expertise in educational leadership, English as a Second Language (ESL), English instruction, curriculum development, assessment, grant writing and management, career technical education, secondary and higher education, accreditation and data analysis. She has served on the MVLA Leadership Team for over 14 years and has supervised the Career Technical Education and Adult Secondary & Adult Basic Education programs.  Vo has taught at both the secondary for the ESUHSD and post-secondary levels for the FHDA Community College district.  She has served as a Literacy Programs Specialist for the city of San Jose and Lead Curriculum Developer for several educational resource publications aligned to the Common Core Sate Standards.  Vo is also a co-founder of Project:Collegebound, a tutorial and mentorshp program that seeks to engage gang-impacted and under-supported youth in the East Bay.
 
Before joining MVLA, Vo worked for the San Jose Evergreen Community College District, where she served as Associate Dean of their Adult Education and Basic Skills program. She was also an education leader with the South Bay Consortium of Adult Education.
 
As the Director, Vo will be responsible for implementing the California Adult Ed Program (CAEP) Annual Plan to over 7,500 students and working collaboratively with the North Santa Clara County Consortium (NSCCC) to develop and implement the next 3-Year Plan, Accreditation plan, and Federal programs.  All are designed to consider current relevant data and identify strategies for achieving continuous improvement and learner success.  
 
Vo is responsible for all administrative duties associated with the adult school. Additionally, she serves on the Leadership Board for the North Santa Clara County Consortium (NSCCC) and is an active member of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).

Jonathan Fu has worked in education for the past 14 years in various adult schools, community based organizations, community colleges, and universities. He began his career in education teaching English overseas in Japan. Prior to beginning his career in education, he was a video game producer.
 
Prior to joining MVLA, Fu worked at Sequoia Adult School where he has served in various roles since 2015 including ESL Coordinator, Assistant Director and Director.
 
Fu is a member of Los Altos High School's graduating class of 2000.
 
He is responsible for supporting administrative duties associated with the adult school.
