ESL Placement Test Registration

All new ESL students must take a placement test in person. Mountain View and Los Altos residents have priority. Residents of other cities will be accommodated if there is space. Students must pre-register for the test in person at MVLA Adult School (333 Moffett Blvd, Mountain View, CA 94043). It is not possible to register over the phone. Space is limited. No walk-ins are allowed for testing. Please do not bring any children on the day of testing. Students must be available to stay for the whole testing period.

All summer placement tests and classes are full.

We will offer placement testing for fall classes in late August. Please check this website or call our school on or after August 1, 2024 for more information on placement tests for ESL classes in the fall. Test dates and registration information will be available at that time.

Questions can be directed to mvlaeslprogram@gmail.com or 650-940-1333.

Students should not sign up for testing if they:
  • completed the highest levels of ESL at another adult school or college
  • have taken six or more years of English classes as part of their elementary or secondary education

These students should visit MVLA's partner colleges for more advanced ESL options.
